Recently I’ve been doing a little work for Pegasus Land. They are creating a series of purpose built flats in new and reconditioned buildings with private apartments and also communal areas, such as dining rooms, pools and gym facilities.

I was asked to produce illustrations showing the layout of each individual flat for sales brochures on several projects. Often it’s hard to get a scene of space from a plan. In order to give some scale, and also a feeling of comfort and home, I added lots of tiny details to the drawings; newspapers on the beds, slippers and shoes, flowers and fruit on the tables, and even tiny mobile phones and laptops.

Each illustration was shaded just using cross-hatching and lines of varying weights. This gives each drawing a timeless quality and makes them a little less like technical plans.
