Prices and How to Order
Each commission is tailor made for the client and priced on an individual basis. Below is an outline of costs which should help to answer the most frequently asked questions. Please do not hesitate to ask Ben Taggart for a detailed estimate if you are considering commissioning a drawing. Please Contact ben@archistory.co.uk or tel. 020 8766 6822.
Full Archistory Service
The full Archistory service includes a scale accurate architectural elevation drawing along with a small site plan or map and a history of the house. Each drawing is produced on high quality paper up to a maximum of A1 size (60cm x 85cm).
We offer two levels of detail regarding the historical account. In most cases the owner might have a few basic facts or pieces of information to go on, if it is possible to piece together a historical account from this information then no further research will be required, we will simply collate the facts and produce a comprehensive narrative from what is available.
If there is little or no information to hand, a full historical research service is available. We will search local and national archives along with census returns and contemporary trade directories to produce a full and detailed history of the house and its owners. The resulting story will span the generations of owners with detail about their occupations and social history as well as some insight into the architecture of the house and history of the area.
As it is essential to make a site visit to measure the house there are three bands of price concerning travel expenses. Commissions undertaken on houses that are further than 100 miles from central London, including commissions outside the UK, are very welcome. However, the details of expenses such as overnight accommodation and flights must be calculated on application. All prices quoted are subject to VAT.

Each drawing is produced on high quality cartridge paper up to A1 size (60cm x 85cm). After the first print subsequent prints are charged at £50 + VAT.
Detail Drawings
Prices for smaller Detail Drawings (link as before)such as front doors, feature windows, etc. start at £300 + VAT. No site visit is necessary; the owner of the house is simply requested to send us a photo of the detail in question. Drawings are up to A4 size (21cm x 30cm) and can be commissioned as artwork for letterheads, moving home cards, Christmas cards etc.
Framing & Mounting
Once the picture is finished the best way to ensure that it is presented to the client in immaculate condition is to have it framed before delivery. Dry-mounting (a process whereby the drawing is adhered to a piece of acid-free mount board) keeps the paper absolutely flat and free of any small undulation. It is highly recommended. Dry-mounting and framing are charged additionally to the prices shown above. Guideline prices are around £50 for detail drawings up to A4 size (21cm x 30cm), £100 for sizes up to A2 (42cm x 60cm) £150 for sizes up to A1 (60cm x 85cm) depending on the type of mount and frame chosen.
Delivery
Delivery of finished artwork may be subject to an additional charge. If the picture is framed, collection or hand delivery is recommended and estimates will be given for delivery arrangements prior to the start of any commission.
